Neoprene Foam
A versatile closed cell foam with excellent tear resistance, chemical stability, and long-term durability. Available in custom sizes, densities, and formats.
What is Neoprene?
Neoprene (chemically known as Chloroprene) is a black closed cell foam available in medium to high densities.
Known for its durability and resistance to oils, greases, and a wide range of chemicals, it is one of the most reliable gasketing and sealing materials available.
Its excellent aging properties mean it retains performance over time, resisting deterioration from heat, ozone, and weathering. Flame-retardant grades are also available, as well as grey neoprene with UL94-HF1 classification.
RGH manufactures and converts neoprene into a wide range of component formats, ensuring each part is supplied in the most effective form for your application process.

Benefits
Why Choose Closed-Cell EPDM?
Neoprene is valued for its balance of mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and long-term resilience. Here are the key benefits:
-
Durable & Resilient
Excellent recovery once compressed, making it one of the best gasketing foams.
-
Oil & Chemical Resistant
Performs better than EPDM when exposed to oils, greases, and certain chemicals.
-
Temperature Stable
Retains properties across a wide temperature range.
-
Flame Retardant Options
Available in specialised grades with flame resistance.
-
Aging & Weather Resistant
Maintains flexibility and performance over time without deterioration.
-
Easy to Fabricate
Die cut, laminated, or supplied with adhesive to suit your process.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions About Neoprene
Wondering how neoprene compares to EPDM or other foam materials? Our FAQs explain its advantages and help you choose the best material for your application.
-
What applications is neoprene foam suitable for?
Neoprene foam offers balanced resistance to weather, abrasion, and moderate oil exposure, making it ideal for general-purpose sealing, gasketing, and insulation.
-
How does neoprene foam perform in the presence of oils?
Neoprene has moderate oil and chemical resistance—better than EPDM but not as strong as nitrile rubber—making it suitable for light-to-medium oil exposure.
-
Is neoprene foam flame retardant?
Many neoprene foams are inherently flame-resistant or available in FR-certified formulations. Always check the specific grade for compliance.
-
Can neoprene foam be supplied with adhesive?
RGH can supply neoprene with acrylic or rubber-based adhesives for easy to bond applications.
-
Is neoprene foam resistant to compression set?
Most grades exhibit good compression-set performance, helping maintain long-term sealing effectiveness.
