Since joining RGH in February 2022, she has worked across every facet of HR — from strategic business partnering to hands-on operational delivery — ensuring the team is supported, engaged, and positioned for long-term success.

What I Do at RGH
As HR Business Partner, Gemma provides end-to-end HR support — from advising leadership on workforce planning to managing day-to-day HR operations. Her role blends strategic thinking with practical execution, ensuring that people processes align with business goals while supporting the wellbeing and growth of every team member.
She is also known for her approachable and collaborative style, always willing to listen, advise, and support colleagues at every level.

Journey
What drew you to a career in HR?
I’ve always been fascinated by the relationship between people and business — how the right environment, support, and processes can help both individuals and organisations thrive. Over the past 20+ years, I’ve built my expertise across all aspects of HR, from policy and compliance to engagement and culture.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
Working with people. I enjoy being a trusted partner who can listen, problem-solve, and help colleagues achieve their best — whether that’s through resolving challenges, guiding development, or improving processes.

Life & Spirit
What does life outside work look like?
I’m passionate about giving back to the community. I volunteer as a Trustee and Secretary for Uttlesford Food Bank, support the Saffron Walden Museum as a Customer Assistant, and sit on the management committee for the Railway Arms community pub. Outside of volunteering, I love live music and theatre, open water swimming, spending time with family, and organising social events for the RGH team.
